Miles (male)

Intake date:   11/21/15

Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix

5-7 years old

5.4 pounds

Adoption fee:  $140, which includes microchip and enrollment fee (ask about our senior citizen discount!)  (Special-needs:  Adoption fee waived to excellent home!)

Good with other dogs:  yes

Cats:  yes

Vetting:  altered (spayed/neutered), UTD on shots, heartworm negative, fecal negative, dental performed

Health issues:  His front right paw turns out.  Our vet determined he was born this way.  It does not hinder him in any way.

Temperament:  Bossy!

Intake reason:   You may be wondering why it’s taken us a month to post official adoption photos of Miles.  He originally came to us on 11/21/15, from Caddo Animal Control.  When he first came to us, he was acting unpredictably.  One minute he would want you to pet him... the next minute he was ready to bite you.  We felt that we didn’t want to post him for adoption until he got more comfortable at our rescue and so we could further evaluate his temperament.  He has never shown this behavior with Ninna, although she has witnessed him doing it with other volunteers.  Over the past few weeks, he’s calmed down a lot, but he is very bonded with Ninna.  It appears that he will bond closely with one person.  For that reason, we are looking for a home for him with one adult and and no children.  He’s fine with other dogs, but does have a problem with dogs that are rambunctious.  Ideally, he would like a home with other dogs, but dogs that are calm.  We believe he’s had to claim his space over the years due to his tiny size.  When we leave the rescue, he gets very upset... barking, barking, barking.  He wants to be with his human... so, ideally, a home where the owner is home more often that not is best.  He is not destructive when we are gone, so we don’t believe this is separation anxiety.  We believe it’s more that he is mad we are leaving.  So, in the end, he’s a quirky, demanding little turd... that wants a quirky, patient, forgiving and understanding adopter.  If that’s you and you are an excellent pet owner... we’d be willing to waive the adoption fee.

**IMPORTANT NOTES:  All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever!  We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family!   We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing.  There is no exception to this rule!  As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended.  We do not guarantee housetrained on any of our adoptable dogs.   While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night.  Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency.  Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty.  That’s our guarantee.

Other notes:  This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La.  We are 501c3 non-profit organization.  Our mission is to rescue small-breed dogs and a handful of cats and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes.
